The exhibition is integrated with two mostly unpublished photo series: Life in Barcelona Reportage and Menorca's Reportage made by David 'Chim' Seymour in 1937-38 on request from Fernando Gamboa as part of the campaign in favour of the Spanish Republic that he was carrying out in Mexico, as well as vintage publications and a small selection of Chim's work in Mexico done for the Lazaro Cardenas' government. Due to the tragic ending of the war these series could not be exhibited until now, 71 years later. Worth mentioning is that the negatives of these prints have not been found yet, which makes them invaluable and unique. These photographs belong to the Gamboa Archive and the images' rights are from Magnum Photos/David Seymour, courtesy of Ben Shneiderman. |
